About Me:
- I have lived in Toowoomba since
late 1996. We have always lived in Western Toowoomba (Glenvale) for ease
of access to Melissa’s family.
- I am married to Melissa Marendy
(who is a teacher in DETE)
- We have two children, Charlotte
(currently studying to be a graphic designer) and Jacqueline (Year 11)
- I am a graduate of James Cook
University with a Bachelor of Education.
- I work for the Department of
Education and Training (DETE) since 1990 in a variety of higher duties
roles (see attached professional resume). My first half of my career was
spent directly in schools as an educator. My current role in the last 11
years is the Regional Technology Manager (responsible for guiding 212
sites in ICT, and managing a team IT professionals in technology support.
(My team has the best results in ICT service delivery in the state. A
great team!) Our Region is geographically large (1 1/4 the size of
Victoria). As a member of the local DETE education Regional Management
team, I’m responsible in representing 212 schools in State ICT issues. I have
also provided advice and input to other external entities such as USQ and
TAFE.
- I have been involved in my girl’s
P&Cs, Girl Guides support groups, and Australian Air Force Cadets in
management and leadership roles.
- As a family, we love travelling,
and have been around the world and explored parts of Australia. Best gift
I can give my girls is awareness of our community and the wider world.
- I enjoy my job, and get job
satisfaction from empowering my educator colleagues with advice and ICT
service delivery that helps kids learn
