What I would like to help achieve?

  1. Our Community is not just Toowoomba

  1. Maintaining our Region’s lifestyle by ensuring:
  • The creation of the new Parks and recreation to reflect the needs of all local residents,
  • New developments – the need to cater for the residential parking, recreation needs of the residents, sufficient access to infrastructure, and reflects the traditions of the Toowoomba Regional area (leafy streets, developed footpaths).
  • Leafy street developments (town planning)
  • More trees (town planning)
  • More gardens across our communities (town planning)
  • Improve the entries into our communities
  • Appropriate Park development to compensate for smaller residential (town planning)
  • Sponsor and encourage cultural and food festivals and events
  • Showcase our region’s produce and highlights (using multiple mediums)
  • Continued development of lane-ways in CBD eg. Café culture encouraged (and longer hours)

  1. Continue Regional development, ensuring:
  • Employment
  • An appropriate opportunity for business
  • Protection for our heritage and lifestyle of our community
  • Residential developments need sufficient parking for residents either in the residential blocks or on the estate.
  • Residential developments in low-medium density areas need to compensate residents with appropriately sized and usable parks and recreational facilities that are fit for purpose.
  • Preference to local firms in developing residential and community projects
  • Developments must be in keeping with the heritage and style of our community

  1. Ensure documented good Governance
  • Transparency in decision making
  • Consultation – wider and different media to cater to our community,
  • Accountability of responsible officers and elected representatives,
  • Decisions will be for good the of the region over the long term not just the immediate period
  • Develop methodology to ensure representation from all our communities to ensure balance of elected representatives
  • Support for a model of representation that ensure representation from each geographical area of our community
  • Ensure each councilor is involved with a portfolio 
  • Redevelopment of published criteria for transparent decision making
  • Councilor to declare any political affiliation or donations.
  • Transparency in decision making
  • Wide consultation

  1. Transportation 
  • Greater access to public transport services
  •  Redevelopment of regulated parking to allow greater access to Business areas of our region and stimulate employment. Eg Easier payment options, and reduced zones of regulated parking.
  • Develop alternatives and incentives to reduce cars in CBD– greater foot and bike access, shuttle  buses, better public transport
  • Greater access to public transport services
  •  Redevelopment of regulated parking to allow greater access to Business areas of our region and stimulate employment. Eg. Easier payment options, and reduced zones of regulated parking, free parking for zones that stimulate business.
  • Develop alternatives and incentives to cars – greater foot and bike access. 
  • Improve our Roads
